BENTON, MAINE—Romeo J. Potelle, of Benton, Maine passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine. He was born in Fairfield, Maine on August 10, 1929, the son of the late Julian and Ameria (Pouliot) Potelle. Romeo was employed for over 40 years by the bridge department of the State of Maine. Following his retirement in 1989, he and his wife, Theresa, spent the winter months in Florida and summers at their cottage on China Lake in Maine. He enjoyed ice fishing and playing cribbage. Romeo served in the Army from April 17, 1951, to April 29, 1953, during the Korean War. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Florence Berube, and Anita Dolly Bryant; and two brothers, Lucien and Lawrence Potelle. Romeo will be sadly missed by his wife, Theresa (Vigue) Potelle; one brother, Albert Potelle of Fairfield, Maine; one sister, Jeannette Labbe of Waterville, Maine; a very special first cousin, Henry Pouliot of Fairfield, Maine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lakewood Continuing Care Center as well as MaineGeneral HealthReach Hospice, especially Kathy Roy, for the exceptional care Romeo received. At Romeo’s request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8 at St. John Catholic Church in Winslow, Maine. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville, Maine.
