Oakland, ME: Ruth E. Tibbetts 88, died Monday September 7, 2015 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville, ME.\r\n\r\nShe was born in Oakland, ME on October 12, 1926 the daughter of Floyd and Mildred (Stevens) Spiller. Ruth attended local schools, graduating from Williams High School Class of 1944.\r\n\r\nRuth was employed by several local businesses including the Cascade Woolen Mill Store, Fossetts Store, Pullen Ford, Depositors Trust Company and retired from Blake Hardware in 1988. \r\n\r\nShe was a member of the Acme Rebecca Lodge. Ruth loved taking road trips, especially those where she could visit light houses. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid knitter. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Ruth enjoyed family dinners, especially when they included lobster. She was a great cook. She was very considerate and never forgot anyone’s birthday, anniversary or special occasion. \r\n\r\nRuth was predeceased by two husbands, Richard Young and Elwin Tibbetts, a brother Charles Spiller, and a sister Bernice Tukey. Surviving are three sons David Young of Oakland, ME, Thomas Young and wife Renee of Stetson, ME and Peter Young and wife Ann of Oakland, ME, a daughter Susan Westin and husband Larry of Tehachapi, Ca., a sister Marie Eldridge and husband Kenneth of Tehachapi, Ca., a sister in law Marilyn Spiller of Cupertino, Ca., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Inland Hospital, Lakewood Manor Rehab, Central Maine Medical Center, Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, and MaineGeneral Hospice.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakland Fire Department 11 Fairfield St. Oakland, ME 04963, Waterville Area Humane Society 200 Webb Rd.
