BENTON, MAINE-Sam E. Young Sr., 49, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 13, 2012. He was born in Waterville, Maine on May 24, 1963, the son of the late Clyde and Laura (Helen) Young. Sam graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Maine, class of 1982, where he was very involved with athletics. Later in life he drove school bus for SAD 49 and would often drive the team bus to their sporting events so he could watch the games. He enjoyed attending the horse races at the fairs with his friend, Clinton “Pooh” Dyer, but his passion was helping his close friend George Fernald, owner of Unity Raceway, and being part of a race team. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant brother, Paul Young. Sam will be sadly missed by his son, Sam Young Jr.; his sister, Angie Young and her partner, Peter Holbrook; his special friend, Deborah Rebal; his niece, Helen Dearborn and her husband, Michael; his nephew, Paul Young; his aunts, Rachel Alley and Virginia Spaulding; the mother of his son, Tracie Young; many cousins, especially Robert Spaulding and his friend Belinda Lanier; and many very close friends, including Duane Dunifer. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22 at Brown Cemetery in Benton, Maine.
