Albion, Maine- Virginia Rideout Sylvester, 90, passed peacefully on July 15, 2016, after a long illness. \r\n\r\nAffectionately known as Jinny, she was born on August 1, 1925, daughter of Vinal and Susie (Hussey) Rideout. \r\n\r\nJinny attended Albion, Maine schools, graduating from Besse High School in 1943. After high school she attended Gates Business College in Augusta, Maine and then worked for the State of Maine until her marriage to Ted Carver in 1945. Jinny and Ted raised their children, Larry, Patricia, and Terri Sue in Albion until Ted's death in 1964.\r\n\r\nJinny married Bob Sylvester in November 1966. Bob and Jinny lived and enjoyed their life in Albion, Maine for 50 years. Jinny served as town clerk in Albion, Maine in the 1960s. She than worked for Dr. Craine in Albion, Maine and left there to work for Dr. Diehl and Dr. Pratt in Waterville, Maine, until her retirement in the 1980s. \r\n\r\nJinny loved music, playing piano and singing all her life. She sang in the church choir at Fairfield’s United Methodist Church for many years. Jenny also enjoyed ceramics, embroidery, crocheting, and was a wonderful cook. She was active in the Albion PTA, firemen’s auxiliary, and the Albion Library.\r\n\r\nJinny was predeceased by her parents and son Larry. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bob Sylvester; daughters, Patsy Carver Knight and her husband Roger of Mt. Vernon, Maine, Terri Sue Carver Fluhart and her husband Greg of Harkers Island, NC; daughter-in-law, Lucy Carver of Tennessee; brother Norman Rideout of Albion, Maine; and her sister Elaine Haley of Saco, Maine.\r\n\r\nA graveside service will be held at a later date.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jinny’s name to Maine General Hospice, 10 Water Street, Suite 307, Waterville, ME 04901.
